Position Responsibilities 

At UC Davis, a postdoctoral scholar is one who trains under the direction of a (research) mentor in a substantial full-time program of advance research and training beyond the doctoral level, in preparation of an independent career. Postdoctoral shoals may expect the opportunity for collaborative and independent research and publications as determined by mutual agreement with their mentor.

A postdoctoral scholar is responsible for: 1) formative assessment in mathematics, current status and future developments; 2) developing and field testing a computer-based assessment and accommodation system for English language learners; 3) Evaluating the effectiveness of a Write program for improving ELL students writing proficiency.

Postdoctoral scholar will also be responsible for researching schools for participation and meeting coordination of schools related to the projects.  This position also includes surveying and test development.

The postdoctoral scholar will be responsible for writing sections of the annual reports and other reports and revising and formatting these reports and submitting them to the grant agencies. The position also involves assisting PI in writing new grant proposals.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant field (data sciences, education, program evaluation, social research methods) and demonstrate excellence in some or all of the following areas:

  • High level of experience with quantitative statistical software programs such SPSS, SAS, HLM, and SEM (e.g., EQS).
  • Experience with survey development and electronic administration (e.g. Survey Monkey)
  • Excellent writing skills particularly in areas of research report writing
  • Familiarity with grant proposal writing
  • Experience in project coordination (preferred)
