The School of Education is committed to working with University partners, school districts and community organizations on projects that make a real difference for students and teachers everyday.

University of California

Linguistic Minority Research Institute
The University of California Linguistic Minority Research Institute (UC LMRI) was established in 1984 in response to the California Legislature's request that the University of California's Office of the President pursue "...knowledge applicable to educational policy and practice in the area of language minority students' academic achievement and knowledge," including their access to the University of California and other institutions of higher education. The UC LMRI was first established as a research project and became a Multi-campus Research Unit (MRU) in 1992.

UC All Campus Consortium on Research & Diversity (ACCORD)
UC ACCORD, All Campus Consortium On Research for Diversity, is an interdisciplinary, multi-campus research center devoted to a more equitable distribution of educational resources and opportunities in California’s diverse public schools and universities. This distinctive UC voice serves as an information and research clearinghouse and catalyst for promoting the delivery of high-quality, equitable schooling to all students.

Community Partners

Washington Unified School District & Sacramento City College
UC Davis, Sacramento City College and Washington Unified School District have collaborated to create an exciting new charter school: the West Sacramento Early College Prep Charter School. The School is slated to open in fall 2007-08 as a campus serving approximately 120 students in grades 6 and 7 (60 students per grade level) and will open a new grade each year after until it reaches the 12th grade. 

St. HOPE Public Schools
The School is collaborating with St. HOPE and the MIND Institute to establish the Triumph Center for Early Childhood Education in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento. St. HOPE Public Schools graduates self-motivated, industrious and critically thinking leaders who are passionate about lifelong learning and committed to serving others. The Center is slated to open in Fall 2007.

First 5 California
The Triumph Center for Early Childhood Education center, a collaboration among the School of Education, the UC Davis MIND Institute, and St HOPE Public School, is funded in part by a grant from the First 5 Sacramento Commission. First 5 funds programs that support the healthy development of children ages 0-5.

Campus Partners

UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute
The School is collaborating with the UC Davis MIND Institute and St. HOPE Public Schools to establish an early childhood educaiton center in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento. The UC Davis M.I.N.D. (Medical Investigation of
Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute is a unique collaborative center for research on the causes, treatments, preventions and, ultimately, cures for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Mathematics and Science Teaching Program
Mathematics and Science Teaching Program at UC Davis (MAST) is part of  the UC Science and Mathematics Initiative. This program builds on the long-standing partnership between the School of Education and the departments of geology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and the College of Biological Sciences to offer undergraduates courses and classroom internship opportunities to explore middle and high school math and science teaching careers. MAST’s mission is to increase the number and quality of math and science teachers.

Mondavi Center
The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts explores the full range of the performing arts, from the traditional to the innovative, and from diverse cultures and disciplines through presentation, education, public service, and research. Mondavi Center’s Arts Education program provides an imaginative and accessible way for people of all ages to discover, understand and appreciate the performing arts.

College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences
The School of Education can trace its history at UC Davis to the training of agricultural education teachers during the early years of the campus. Agricultural and Environmental Education continues to be a dynamic part of the campus with both teaching credential and doctoral programs offered through the School of Education in partnership with the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. CA&ES is recognized as a world leader in fields such as environmental sciences, nutrition & food science, animal & plant sciences, and viticulture & enology through its 314 faculty, 5600 students, and 80 cooperative extension specialists.

UC Davis Extension
UC Davis Extension offers educators a diverse range of intensive-format classes, in-depth learning through certificate programs, courses for credentials, and programs that will help build bridges between student and teacher.
