Pathways to Understanding the Arts Disciplines (for generalist classroom teachers)
Provides 75 hours of instruction in the basic processes, techniques, skills and knowledge needed to begin teaching an arts discipline (dance, music, theatre, or visual arts) in the classroom.

Monday-Thursday, July 20-23, 2009
Monday-Thursday, July 27-30, 2009 - Block II:
Saturday, October 17, 2009 - Block III:
Saturday, January 30, 2010
Fee: $700
(Optional) UC Davis Extension can be purchased for 7 quarter units.
Invitational Institute: Empowering Teachers' Creativity
SNAP is collaborating with Valley Sierra California Arts Project and this Invitational Institute will be at University of Pacific in Stockton
For Single Subject Arts Teachers and teachers who have a major or minor in an arts discipline to creatively explore best practices in Arts Education.
During the institute, participants have opportunities to:
- deepen their subject matter content knowledge in all four of the arts disciplines;
- engage in standards based instructional design;
- demonstrate successful standards-based instructional practices;
- deepen artistic growth through exploration of an Aesthetic Inquiry;
- become informed about arts education issues and research;
- engage in professional reflection
SNAP will pay for residence at UOP for teachers who live more than 50 miles away.
Fee: $1200 or $1000 each for teams of two or more from a school or district
Participants need to attend all blocks to complete the institute

Sun., June 14: 9 am to 1 pm - Block 2
Mon.- Fri., July 13-17: 9 am to 5 pm - Block 3

Fri., September 25: 5 pm to 9 pm
Sat.,September 26: 9 am to 5 pm
Sun., September 27: 9 am to 1 pm - Block 5
Fri.,October 16: 5 pm to 9 pm
Sat.,October 17: 9 am to 5 pm
Sun.,October 18: 9 am to 1 pm - Block 6
Fri.,November 6: 5 pm to 9 pm
Sat., November 7: 9 am to 5 pm
Sun.,November 8: 9 am to 1 pm
All blocks will be held at the University of the Pacific
