Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) hosts a month-long, spoken word poetry competition that is open to any youth between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. Competitors will perform two original pieces (poems or raps), not to exceed three minutes in length.

Preliminary Competitions (all locations in Sacramento)

Feb. 27, 4 – 6p.m.: Sacramento High School
March 5, 4 – 6 p.m.: MLK Jr. Technology Academy
March 8, 5 – 9:30 p.m.: Grant Union High School
March 13, 4 -6 p.m.: American Legion
March 15, 4 – 6 p.m.: Albert Einstein
March 20, 4 -6 p.m.: Sam Brannan Middle School
March 21, 4 – 6 p.m.: John F. Kennedy High School

Semi-Finals

March 23, 5 – 9 p.m.: Brick House Gallery and Arts Complex, Sacramento
March 24, 5 – 9 p.m.: Sol Collective, Sacramento

Finals

April 5, 5 – 11 p.m.: The Guild Theater, Sacramento
