The UC Davis Center for Community School Partnerships and the California Department of Education recently held the Regional Healthy Start Summits on Full Service Community School Partnerships.
The goals of the regional summits were to:
Share core principles of the Full Service Community Schools Framework that can be adapted and modeled at the local level by county offices of education, districts, schools, and by current and sustained Healthy Start Grantees;
Discuss common challenges for implementing Full Service Community Schools and share successful strategies for overcoming them; and
Learn about the current status of state and federal support for Full Service Community Schools; and
Develop statewide collaboration for Full Service Community School stakeholders.
The Healthy Start Field Office (HSFO) was created to provide
training and technical assistance services to the more than 1,000
public schools in California receiving SB-620 Healthy Start
planning or operational grants from the California Department of Education
(CDE).
These grants were established in 1991 by SB-620 and have been
awarded annually to establish school-linked learning supports for
children, families, and communities. Over 800 grants have been
awarded in all 58 counties of California.
