  • Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0
  • One year of college level English or Literature (3 quarters or 2 semesters)

  • Letters of Recommendation are ONLY required for students with a GPA below 3.0.  The letters must be submitted electronically through the online application.  Students should not have recommenders send letters in hard copy, but rather submit all recommendations online once the online service is available.
  • Applicants should wait to submit their transcripts until after they have marked their application complete and submitted.  This allows for more efficient and effective matching of transcripts to applicants.
  • Applicants should submit only one transcript for each university or college they have attended.  That transcript will be made available to faculty in each graduate program to which the applicant has applied, as well as for the review of the fellowship application.
  • Applicants should send their transcripts directly to the graduate program to which they have applied; in the case of multiple applications, applicants should send only one transcript to their first choice of graduate programs or to the first completed graduated program application.
  • Applicants should upload required curriculum vitae, resume and/or writing sample via the online application web site.  Applicants to programs that do not list these items as requirements will not be allowed to upload them.
