At the UC Davis School of Education, we believe in being
responsive to the needs of the field. In addition to leveraging
the resources of the greatest public university in the world , we
are also committed to tackling sometimes sensitive and entrenched
issues with bold thinking and innovation.
Charter School: West Sacramento Early College Prep
Our role in a unique charter school that we helped design and
manage enables us to put students first in a very real way and
makes us accountable for the outcomes.
EdForward: Our Center for Innovation in Education
We know that everyone engaged in education needs to find new and
more effective ways to tackle the most difficult issues facing
public schools. We also realize we need to find new sources of
funding for our initiatives. EdForward is a unique effort among
education schools to find ways to develop services and products
for the education market that enable us and our partners to try
out cutting edge solutions and discover new and better ways to
serve the needs of all learners.
Equity Summit
Closing the achievement gap is one of the most controversial, yet
persistent, challenges in education. There are a number of
solutions being tested and implemented, but one cause cannot be
ignored: the existence of social inequities in many of our
schools and communities. The School’s annual Equity Summit is a
regional effort to bring together community leaders, K-12
administrators and teachers, and higher education professionals
to tackle the underlying causes of social injustice in the
context of schooling and beyond.
