Graduation 2008 Information
I-5 Construction Notice:
We want to alert you to the Interstate 5 repair project that is causing traffic problems on major area highways during this commencement season.
The Fix I-5 project is alternately closing northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the downtown Sacramento area through mid-July. The project may cause traffic congestion on other roadways in the area, including Interstate 80 and Highway 50.

Ceremony
June 11, 2008
4:00 p.m. Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center
Doors to Jackson Hall open for the School of Education Graduation Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will include remarks by distinguished speakers and acknowledgement of degree and credential candidates. At the appropriate part of the ceremony, each candidate will cross the stage to receive congratulations. The ceremony is expected to last approximately two hours.
Admission Tickets
Admission is free, but tickets will be REQUIRED for each guest at the School of Education ceremony (including infants and toddlers). This event will have general seating, and each graduate may order up to six guest tickets. Graduates and faculty who participate will not need tickets for themselves.
Tickets will be assigned for general seating as orders are placed. Additional unclaimed tickets may be made available, as the date of the event gets closer.
Please note: University policy prohibits the selling of commencement tickets for money or commercial value. Violation will result in referral to Student Judicial Affairs.

Attire
Graduates are to required wear academic regalia to the ceremony. Graduates can rent a cap and gown through the Bookstore. Please visit the UCD Bookstore Web site for details.
Note: Credential students should order the "Bachelor's" cap and gown.
Assembly of Graduates
Students will assemble in academic dress in the Studio Theatre (Mondavi Center) no later than 3:15 p.m. Signs identifying each program will be prominently displayed. When you arrive, go to your program area and follow line-up instructions.
Conduct During Ceremony
Graduation is a time to celebrate and enjoy your achievement. It is also a time to reflect on that achievement and to acknowledge the help and support provided by family, friends, faculty and staff. You are asked to honor the spirit of this important occasion by conducting yourself in a manner that is respectful of your guests, the guests of others, faculty and staff, and your fellow graduates. Thank you for your help in making this day meaningful to all.
Reception
Following the ceremony, there will be an outdoor reception for faculty, graduates, their families and friends.
Special Accommodations
Special seating will be available for students or guests with mobility problems, and sign language interpretation is available for those with hearing impairments.
Parking
Parking is free in designated areas for those attending the ceremony. Directional signs reading "commencement parking" will be placed at closest campus entrances. A portion of the Mondavi Center parking structure is reserved for guests and participants.
Graduation Program
A graduation program will be printed for the Spring Graduation Ceremony. Candidates who cannot attend the ceremony may obtain copies of the program by contacting Jeff Johnson at (530) 752-5887.

Note: All School of Education graduate degrees will be officially conferred at the Graduate Studies Commencement on June 12, 2008, at 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., and candidates are encouraged to participate in that ceremony, as well. To participate, you must register online through the Graduate Studies Office. (Only MA, PhD, and EdD candidates can participate in the Graduate Studies Commencement.)
