David Murphy Coach, Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) - California Administrative Services Credential Program
David Murphy worked as a superintendent for 21 years. He served
the Davis Joint Unified School District and was appointed by the
Governor in 2009 to be the Superintendent of Education,
California’s Division of Juvenile Justice, Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation.
David was on the Association of California School Administrators
(ACSA) as the state chair for its Secondary Education Committee
and later served for three years as the state chair of the ACSA
School to Career Committee. For the Association of the
Improvement of Secondary Education (AISE, also known as the
California High School Districts Association), he served for
several years on the AISE executive board and then as the AISE
Having been a superintendent for over 20 years, Mr. Murphy serves
as a coach in the ACSA California Administrative Services
Credential program, consults with school districts in the area of
school leadership, and is a lifetime member of the California
Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators.
He graduated from Santa Clara University and from the Stanford
University’s Administration and Policy Analysis Program area.
