Welcome to the Center for Shakespeare in Diverse Classrooms, a unique partnership between the UC Davis School of Education and Globe Education, Shakespeare’s Globe, London. Through our teacher professional development programs and ongoing research we seek to develop and document engaging and equitable classroom practices for the study of Shakespeare and other complex texts.
The Center works to empower language arts and social studies teachers with innovative practices throughout their careers, beginning with their teaching credential year and continuing through ongoing professional development workshops and opportunities to partner with us as research-practitioners.
Although the Center for Shakespeare in Diverse Classrooms launched in 2018, the School of Education and Globe Education have already had a long partnership. Since 2005, more than 200 credential and preservice teachers and more than 100 teachers who attended in-service workshops have received professional development through our joint programs.
