Resourcing Excellence in Education (REEd) at UC Davis School of Education will be hosting free, one-day Deep Dive sessions to share new resources designed to support implementation of the Common Core State Standards and the new California Frameworks: the SOAR Teaching Frames® for Mathematics and the SOAR Teaching Frames® for Literacy (with an added emphasis on integrated ELD).

What are the SOAR Teaching Frames®?

Based on six years of research, SOAR Teaching Frames® for Mathematics and SOAR Teaching Frames® for Literacy help teachers and administrators drive student learning by focusing on a set of effective instructional practices for the Common Core State Standards. The Frames and associated rubrics were developed by a team of researchers led by Susan P. O’Hara, from REEd at the UC Davis School of Education, and Robert Pritchard, from EPF for teaching. This team worked with stakeholders across California, including teacher leaders, CTA representatives, State and District administrators, content experts, education researchers and more.

What is the online platform?

In partnership with EPF for teaching and Frontline Technologies we have also developed and piloted an online professional learning platform around the SOAR Teaching Frames®. MLP Elevate for SOAR features rigorous video-based training, evidence-gathering practice, and calibration exercises that help contextualize the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP).

All attendees will receive a free, three-month trial of MLP Elevate for SOAR®.

The SOAR Teaching Frames® and online platform have been piloted with seventeen LEAs across the state including Los Angeles Unified School District, Robla School District, Clovis Unified School District, Yuba City School District, Sonoma County Office of Education, and Rocklin School District. This was funded through the Improving Teacher Quality grant project.

Who should attend?

The Deep Dive Sessions are open to teachers and administrators. We strongly encourage teams to attend together. Please complete one registration form per attendee.
