J. Koppich and Associates, an external education consulting firm, worked with REEd to document the lessons learned from the Integrated Professional Learning Systems (IPLS) initiative between 2014 and 2016.
Their final report describes REEd’s extensive work with districts across the state to transform current teacher evaluation systems to systems of professional growth. The report focuses on identifying the conditions necessary to supporting individual and collective professional growth. These conditions include culture shifts, capacity building at the local level, reshaping labor-management relations, a focus on communication, and learning from others. J. Koppich and Associates also touch on the value of attending to the unique context of each district; as well the role of intermediaries, such as REEd, in staying focused on the work at hand and providing on-going oversight and leadership.
