SJEC Mission Statement
The Social Justice Education Coalition (SJEC) believes that a
critical social justice education is necessary and a fundamental
right for all students, in all disciplines. We are committed to
the implementation and institutionalization of critical social
justice frameworks as it relates to advocacy, research,
curriculum, courses, faculty, and recruitment of students, which
cultivate critical consciousness in the communities we represent.
SJEC is dedicated to creating spaces for sustained dialogue and
collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and administration
regarding the socio-cultural climate of our campus communities.
The Social Justice Education Coalition (SJEC) is an officially
registered and campus-wide graduate student organization. SJEC
members are also a part of the Social Justice standing committee
within the Education Graduate Student Association (EdGSA). We
organize and advocate for the implementation and
institutionalization of critical social justice frameworks as it
relates to advocacy, research, curriculum, courses, faculty, and
recruitment of students, which cultivate critical consciousness
in the communities we represent.
