Get hands-on experience as a teaching assistant intern in a TK–12
classroom setting with the EDU 100 fieldwork course.
You’ll work directly with students, learn from professional
teachers, and earn observation hours that may satisfy the
classroom observation hour requirement for the UC Davis Teaching
Credential Program. You’ll also gain valuable professional
experience that can be used on your resume, and you may be able
to receive an internship transcript notation if you complete 40
hours.
Education 100 is a foundational course in the Education minor and
is an important pathway for students interested in entering the
UC Davis Teacher Education program. The class includes
a required 30-hour off-campus fieldwork
requirement.
Finding Your Internship
Once you register for the EDU 100 course, you will need to visit
the
Career Center website and find an internship that
works for you.
Before you contact the internship site, consider the following:
-
Grade and class subject. Think about what
classroom setting works for you. For example, if you want to
become a math teacher, you should seek an internship in a math
class.
-
School location. Schools may be in Davis,
Woodland, Dixon, Natomas, West Sacramento, Sacramento, etc., so
make sure you have adequate transportation.
-
Bell schedules. Google the school name and
“bell schedule” to see when classes are in session to make sure
your internship time will work for your availability.
Approval Process
The internships on the Career Center site are pre-approved for
EDU 100. If you already have an internship site in mind and
do not plan to use the Career Center to find one, you must have
prior approval from your professor before beginning your
internship.
Transcript Notation
To receive an internship Transcript Notation, please follow
the process on the UC Davis transcript
notations webpage.
