Subject Matter Verification Requirement

Meeting Subject Matter standards for your credential area is required by the point in the credential program that you begin full time student teaching. Completing or showing progress toward meeting this requirement when you apply to the UC Davis credential program in highly recommended, particularly when you undergraduate major is not in the discipline area you wish to teach.

Subject matter is most commonly met by passing the CSET exam for your discipline. This is the only option for multiple subject candidates.

Single subject candidates have the additional option of a Subject Matter Waiver if their undergrad coursework meets the requirements.
