How to Apply

Please check back in September 2026 for 2027-2028 application updates.

Overview

The application to apply for admission to the Teacher Credential/MA program is an online application

Please consult the Application Guide handout below for tips on filling out the online application. The Application Submission Process handout below provides details about timing and how to submit additional supporting documents.

1. Know the deadlines.

2. Complete the prerequisites. Please pay particular attention to the test documentation and timing, classroom observation verification, and GPA requirements.

3. The Credential/MA Program is no longer available for F1/J1 visa holders.

Students with other visa classifications must first determine program eligibility. Please contact Dr. Tammy Silver, Associate Director, International Student Services, at tsilver@ucdavis.edu if you have any questions.

4. Apply online. The application cost is $135 and applicants submit payment by credit card at time of submission (see below for information on the Application Fee Fellowship). Only credit card payment will be accepted for paying the application fee and must be submitted through the online application system. Please refer to the helpful Application Guide document below while completing your online application!

Application Fee Fellowship 2026-2027

The Teacher Education Program understands that the graduate application fee can present a financial barrier for many prospective students. For the 2026–2027 academic year, we are offering an Application Fee Fellowship (AFF), which provides a fee waiver for the Credential/MA Program application during this year’s admission cycle. The Application Fee Fellowship application can be found here.

Priority consideration will be given to:

  • California residents
  • Applicants with demonstrated financial need
  • Applicants with a strong interest in addressing educational access and opportunity
  • Applicants with substantial experience in a variety of educational settings

We especially encourage applications from individuals who are first-generation graduate students and/or interested in pursuing a Bilingual Authorization.

** Please note:

  • We are unable to reimburse applicants who choose to submit their online application and pay the application fee on their own.
  • Receiving an Application Fee Fellowship has no impact on admissions decisions and does not influence whether or not you are accepted into the Credential/MA Program.

Deadlines:

Applications for the Fee Fellowship will be accepted on a rolling basis until March 1. Applications will be reviewed after each of the following dates:

  • December 8
  • February 1
  • March 1

If you have any questions, contact jcbarnes@ucdavis.edu.

5. Upload unofficial transcripts and supporting documents.

  • Transcripts: In the “Academic History” section of the online application you will see detailed instructions regarding how to upload your transcripts. Please follow them closely.  Directions are also available in an email from Graduate Studies or on the UC Davis Grad Studies “Submitting Unofficial Transcripts” webpage. UC Davis students—please send in community college transcripts!
  • Supporting Documents: Once an application is submitted you will receive further directions from Graduate Studies on uploading supporting documents.  You will need to provide either evidence of meeting the requirement or registration to test.

Your application will not be considered complete until your Transcripts, Classroom Experience/Observation, and Subject Matter documentation are received.

We will communicate with you by email so please set your spam filter to accept messages from UC Davis.
