Lisa Allen is the superintendent of Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD), which serves just under 40,000 students across 75 campuses in the Sacramento region. In this role, she oversees funds allocated to the school district, creates and modifies district-wide policies, ensures curricula comply with local and state guidelines, and leads all stakeholders in upholding the district’s core mission and values. Allen prioritizes student outcomes in every aspect of her work, and she strives to create safe and inclusive school environments that empower every student to thrive.

Allen has served SCUSD for 28 years, working as deputy and interim superintendent before being elected as superintendent in 2024. She began her tenure at the school district as a resource teacher for students who require additional classroom support and then progressed into leadership positions where she collaborated with every major department. Throughout her career, Allen has continued to build strong relationships with staff and demonstrate her passion for SCUSD and equity in education.

Allen received her B.A. in multiple subject elementary education with a minor in mathematics from Indiana University. She holds an M.A. in education and administrative credential from CSU Sacramento.
