Teaching American History
Solano County Office of Education Teaching American History Grant Program
This program provides professional development to 8th and 11th grade teachers in U.S. History content and pedagogy. It involves intensive Summer Institutes for teachers with follow-up workshops and lesson study. CEES provides a mixed method evaluation using web-based surveys of teachers, paper-basedl surveys of students, interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of secondary data. Secondary data include assessments of teachers’ history content test results, responses to Document Based Questions, and student achievement data (state assessments in U.S. History and English Language Arts).
