2012-13 TA Application (for Incoming Students ONLY)

School of Education Call for 2012-13 Teaching Assistantships (TA) Applications Undergraduate, Graduate and Teacher Education programs (for Incoming Students ONLY. Current students need to apply on the intranet)

APPLICATION AND CALL PERIOD: Applications for TA appointments, from graduate students in the School of Education, will be accepted from April 26 through May 4, 2012 at 8:00 a.m.

Applications submitted outside of the call period will remain on file and reviewed if additional positions become available. All applications will remain on file until the end of the academic year.

APPOINTMENT: The majority of the Teaching Assistant appointments will be offered as 25% (10 hours/week), occasionally a position my be offered as a 50% (20 hours/week)

ELIGIBILITY: To qualify for a Teaching Assistantship position, the following criteria must be met and all application materials must be submitted by the deadline.

  • Appointee must have a current minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
  • Appointee must possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Appointee may not be enrolled in the course in which he/she is a TA.
  • Appointee should be registered as a graduate student in full-time residence.
  • Appointment as a TA while on Filing Fee is allowed for one quarter.
  • Appointment as a TA while on PELP is no longer allowed.
  • All appointments will be 25% unless otherwise requested by faculty.

PROCESS: Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria above and provide all requested information in order to be considered for a position. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Teacher Education Courses:

Select the quarters for the courses you are most interested in. There are limited spaces available for each course, so please make sure that you check boxes for ALL courses you would be willing to TA, except in cases where there is a known time conflict with your other commitments.

PLEASE NOTE: Many Fall courses start in August and September. These normally have intensive schedules before the quarter starts, but then end in October/November. Please contact Kerry Hasa for examples of past schedules.

Undergraduate Courses:

If you have prior experience as a Teaching Assistant, please list the course(s), instructor(s), and date of appointment(s).

Please include current degree program, previous degrees earned, and relevant previous coursework pertaining to the classes being applied for.
