New Matching Program Boosts Graduate Student Support

Soderquist Matching Fund Initiative for Graduate Student Support

Graduate student support is needed now more than ever as costs increase and new competition looms. In response to this need, the newly-established  Soderquist Matching Fund Initiative for Graduate Student Support provides resources to help staff, faculty, and emeriti create endowed graduate student support funds.

Under the new program, current and emeriti faculty, as well as staff, are invited to establish a graduate student support fund in their own name. The new program will then match the donor’s funds 1:1 up to a maximum match of $25,000, thereby doubling the donation.

The program’s matching fund was created with a $500,000 legacy gift from the estate of Charlie Soderquist. “Encouraging graduate students was very important to Charlie Soderquist,” recalls Chancellor Emeritus Vanderhoef. “He liked to challenge and empower others to make a difference.”
