The Guardian Teacher Scholarship

Lynn Romano (2012-13 Guardian Teacher Scholar) and Tanya Anaya (2013-14 Guardian Teacher Scholar) share their joy at the UC Davis School of Education Graduation ceremony in June 2013. Romano graduated with an MA; Anaya received her teaching credential.

The Guardian Teacher Scholarship is an opportunity to encourage and support former foster care youth to pursue careers in teaching in California. Scholarships help the UC Davis School of Education prepare qualified students to be knowledgeable, thoughtful teacher leaders of tomorrow. Funds  specifically support student tuition and fees associated with studying and preparing to be teachers through the School’s Teaching Credential/Master of Arts Program.

The Guardian Teacher Scholarship is a partnership of the UC Davis School of Education and the Guardian Scholars Program at UC Davis, with seed funding from the Stuart Foundation. The Guardian Scholars Program serves the needs of former foster youth by providing support and services during their undergraduate careers. Together, we are working to encourage students to continue their post-undergraduate education and pursue teaching careers. Download a brochure with more information here. Make your gift today!
