Ph.D. Student - School Organization and Educational Policy
Cristian Ulisses Reyes (he/him/él) is a Ph.D. student in Education with an emphasis on School Organization and Educational Policy (SOEP) at the University of California, Davis. Prior to starting his Ph.D. journey, Cristian worked as a Senior Associate of Student Engagement with Today’s Students Coalition, supported Hispanic-Serving Institution initiatives at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and held several research internship/fellowship roles with higher education policy organizations like The Ed-Trust West, The Campaign for College Opportunity, New America, Achieving The Dream, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), and many more. His research, supported by Dra. Marcela Cuellar and Dr. Kevin Gee, examines the role of student support services in Latino student success, and barriers, like inadequate access to basic needs, that may contribute to student attrition. This work aims to contribute to the broader field of higher education policy and Latino student success. Prior to attending UC Davis, Cristian earned his M.S. in Higher Education Counseling and Student Affairs and B.S. in Child Development from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
