New Teacher Scholarship Fund in Honor of Founding Dean Harold Levine
Longstanding School of Education supporters Sandi Redenbach (’72, Credential ’73) and Ken Gelatt (’67, Credential ’68) have generously established an endowed scholarship fund to show their appreciation for Founding Dean Harold Levine’s accomplishments and to celebrate his well-earned retirement.
The Sandi Redenbach and Ken Gelatt Teaching Credential STEM Scholarship in Honor of Dean Harold G. Levine will be awarded to a teaching credential student with a career focus on STEM subjects in public schools.
“Many students come to the School of Education not knowing how they will afford tuition, but taking the risk because they believe in the School’s vision and know they will receive an exceptional education,” Sandi and Ken said. “Like Dean Levine, we believe that all students should have access to a high-quality education, regardless of income, first language, address, learning challenges, or race. We hope this scholarship will help to recruit and retain academically promising students.”
Tom and Nancy Patten, also generous supporters of the School, have not only fully matched the scholarship but will match additional donations up to $10,000, making gifts go twice as far. The Pattens hope to inspire other donors to support the cause of education and future educators.
