School of Education and Graduate Studies Hold Separate Graduation Ceremonies

Master’s and doctoral students can attend either or both but must register for them separately

Master’s and doctoral students have the option of attending two ceremonies: one hosted by Graduate Studies and one hosted by the School of Education. This does not apply for credential students.

School of Education Graduation

  • The School of Education ceremony on June 12, 2024 in the Mondavi Center is just for our credential, master’s, Ph.D. and Ed.D. students, and the program is focused on the education field rather than being for a general audience. All students are presented by their primary faculty advisor/supervisor and receive a cord or stole placed over the shoulders. Ph.D. and Ed.D. students are not hooded at this ceremony.
  • If you have any questions about the School of Education ceremony, contact our graduation staff at

Graduate Studies Commencement

  • The Graduate Studies ceremony is for master’s and doctoral students only and will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the University Credit Union Center.
  • Graduate Studies now divides their commencement ceremonies into one for master’s degrees and one for doctoral/MFA degrees. However, both will be held on Thursday, June 13, at the University Credit Union Center.
  • All master’s and doctoral students will receive information directly from Graduate Studies regarding registration for the Graduate Studies Commencement Ceremony.
  • Do not register for the Graduate Studies commencement if you don’t plan on attending.
  • If you do plan to participate in both ceremonies, keep your rental cap and gown after the School of Education graduation to wear at the Graduate Studies commencement the next day. Returns will be available at the University Credit Union Center after the Graduate Studies ceremony.
