Car Mun Kok
Director of College Opportunity Programs
Dr. Car Mun Kok joined the UC Davis School of Education in November 2021 as the Director of College Opportunity Programs, housed under the REEd Center. Car Mun provides leadership for the federally funded GEAR UP, Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound programs which serve middle and high school students throughout the Sacramento Valley and Northern California areas.
Prior to her current position, Car Mun served as the 4-H Youth Development Advisor for Lake and Mendocino Counties with the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR). She has a decade of experience in applied research on family and youth development. She has engaged in planning, implementation, and evaluation of positive youth development programs in college and career readiness, science learning, and healthy living. Her research work includes culturally responsive youth programs, youth program retention, youth participatory action research and professional development for educators.
Car Mun earned her B.A. in Psychology, M.S. in Child, Youth, and Family Studies, and Ph.D. in Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
