WELCOMING TWO ARRIVALS TO THE TEAM: SARAH ANGULO AND SHULONG YAN

We’re happy to announce the addition of staff Sarah Angulo and postdoctoral scholar Shulong Yan this month.

Sarah Angulo joins us as the new Community Education and Outreach Specialist. She is managing community-engaged projects that support community and citizen science capacity building and program development. Sarah has a background in educating students of all ages on environmental issues and practices. This experience, along with her skills in partnership maintenance, creation of curricula, and communications development, will help the Center grow. You can reach Sarah at sangulo@ucdavis.edu.

Shulong Yan will join the Our Forests Project as a postdoctoral scholar. Her prior work is built upon the intersection of collaborative learning, design, and equity. She is interested in empowering learners to recognize and exert their power with the support of their communities for societal change. She intends to engage these learners in design activities to develop a critical lens to examine their narratives of success and failure, reflect on their identity, and investigate how their learning processes are influenced by the learning ecosystem, including human and non-human objects.

Welcome, Shulong and Sarah!
