Salmonid Restoration Conference
March 26-29, 2024
Peggy Harte will be presented the Spinning Salmon Project alongside collaborating research partners at the Salmonid Restoration Conference in Santa Rosa. The Salmonid Restoration Conference is a unique platform for professionals, academics, and scientists to showcase their research and address key issues impacting salmonid habitats among people in their field. High school students are able to gain opportunities within Citizen Science, such as investigating Thiamine Deficiency Complex (TDC) alongside researchers. As scientists investigate the cause of TDC, the team at the UC Davis Centers for Community and Citizen Science, UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences, NOAA Fisheries, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife, developed an observation protocol and lesson sequence to engage high schoolers in monitoring behavior and mortality rates as part of the Aquariums in the Classroom Program. With over thirty years of experience, the conference offers engaging field tours, workshops, and panel discussions, featuring distinguished speakers at the forefront of salmonid restoration efforts in California.
