Rachel Brick
Ph.D. Student - Language, Literacy and Culture
Rachel Brick (she/her/ella) is a doctoral student in Language, Literacy, and Culture in the School of Education. Before coming to UC Davis, Rachel was a K-12 teacher for 15 years in New York City and Chicago. She is a National Board Certified teacher in English as a New Language, and her teaching background is in bilingual and dual language education, ELA, and ELD. Rachel holds a M.S.Ed. in Bilingual/Dual Language Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She also has experience in professional development design and facilitation.
Rachel’s research interests include literacy development with newly arrived transnational high school students, professional development for bilingual teachers, and pre-service teacher education. She is currently working with her advisors on the CRECEMOS: Growing Bilingual Teachers Grant.
