Andrew Hood is the Program Director for the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Track 2 Project. Andrew is a former middle and high school math teacher, and currently also supervises in the UC Davis teacher credential program. Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara (2012) and a teaching credential, M.A., and Ph.D. from UC Davis (2014, 2015, and 2025). His work focuses on supporting prospective math teachers, strengthening pathways into the profession, and expanding equitable STEM learning opportunities for all students.

Facilitated and supported planning of a virtual summer conference for teacher candidate supervisors, in collaboration with other members of STENT. Created and administered survey instruments to collect quantitative and qualitative data, and analyzed data. Summarized findings at multiple conferences and in a Spencer grant proposal.

Supervisors of Teacher Education Network Team, 2023-2025
Planned, facilitated, and participated in a professional learning community of mathematics teacher candidate supervisors. Collected and analyzed data related to our efforts to address issues of equity and social justice in our supervision. This research, including findings, was described in detail in my dissertation.

Social Networks of Teacher Candidate Supervisors Project, 2021
Conducted research examining the professional social networks of teacher candidate supervisors in teacher education programs. Created and utilized research instruments, including interview protocols. Interviewed supervisors and conducted preliminary analysis of interview transcripts.
