David Chai
Strategic Advisor, Alice Waters Edible Schoolyard Project
David Chai is a consultant who has served as a strategic advisor to leaders in the public and private sectors for over 25 years. He currently serves as a Strategic Advisor for the Alice Waters Edible Schoolyard Project and is a Global Advisory Council Member of the Governance Lab at New York University. He has previously held positions including Chief of Staff for Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums, Jobs Czar for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, Press Secretary for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Deputy Press Secretary in the White House for the Clinton Administration and Global Public Relations Manager for Cisco Systems, as well as roles with the offices of the UC Berkeley Chancellor and governors of California and Washington. He has also served on the National Advisory Council of the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies as well as a Visiting Scholar. He earned his bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley.
