Sue Davis
Educator (ret.), Deterding Elementary School (BS '72)
Sue Davis a long-time supporter of the School of Education. She received her B.S. in Child Development from UC Davis in ’72, Teaching Credential in ’73, and her Master’s Degree from California State Sacramento in ’81. She was a classroom teacher for 37 years, retiring from Deterding Elementary School in Carmichael in 2010.
Sue is a lifetime member of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and was a founding member of the School’s Alumni Council, on which she served for many years. In 2007, she was the alumni speaker at the School’s graduation ceremony. She currently serves as workshop chair on the Watercolor Artists of Sacramento Horizons (WASH) board, docents at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, and teaches a living history program at Rhoads School.
Her husband, Rodney Davis, is also a UC Davis alumnus. He is a past president of Cal Aggie Alumni Association and a former Alumni Regent of UC. Sue and Rod were the first members of the School of Education’s Dean’s Leadership Circle, which honors alumni and friends who lead by example with their gifts to the School. They also support many causes across UC Davis and are members of honorific giving clubs including the Davis Chancellor’s Club, Letters & Science Young Society, and the UC Davis Leadership Giving Society.
