Honoring Educators Awards Ceremony on May 17

The ceremony and reception will be held on Tuesday, May 17 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Buehler Alumni Center at UC Davis. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

Prof. Abedi Receives AERA Award
We’re pleased to report that Dr. Jamal Abedi has been honored with the 2016 E.F. Lindquist Award, which honors a distinguished scholar’s outstanding research in the field of testing and measurement. The award is co-sponsored by the American Educational Research Association, which strives to advance knowledge about education, encourage scholarly inquiry, and promote the use of research to improve education. Congratulations, Dr. Abedi, on this very well-deserved honor!
Seeking Math Teachers to Participate in Formative Assessment Study
Attention 8th grade math teachers! Are you interested in seeing the impact of formative assessment in your classroom? Dr. Jamal Abedi and his research team are looking for participants! Teachers who volunteer will receive free professional development training and implement a 3-6 week intervention within their classrooms. Open Position for Postdoctoral Researcher in Public Participation in Science Research
The School of Education has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher. This research project will focus on public participation in scientific research (PPSR) as a tool to promote science learning, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement for youth. This is an immediate opening with a preferred start date of March 2016, and the project will end on June 30, 2017. Alumna Clare Wiley Honored with Memorial
River City High School recently dedicated their science building in memory of late School of Education alumna Clare Wiley. The newly named Wiley Hall will be a lasting tribute to the enormous impact Clare had on the school’s students, faculty and science program before she lost her battle with leiomyosarcoma.
