The Education Career Chats Series provides UC Davis doctoral students an opportunity to learn from individuals who earned doctoral degrees in education and landed jobs outside of academe. Speakers will also share information about potential internship and job opportunities within their workplaces and other organizations. Hosted by the School of Education and Graduate Group in Education.
About the Speaker
Dr. Rafiqah Mustafaa (she/her) serves as the assistant director of learning and improvement at the nonprofit organization Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). In the role, Dr. Mustafaa supports the development of CASEL’s internal learning and improvement systems and collaborates cross-departmentally to ensure CASEL’s products, technical assistance, and service delivery efforts are grounded in research and best practices.
Prior to joining CASEL, Dr. Mustafaa designed and implemented program evaluations and evaluation capacity-building projects for Illinois-based foundations, nonprofits, and government programs as an evaluation coach and independent consultant. She earned a Ph.D. and Ed.M. in educational policy studies, with a program evaluation specialization from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and B.A.s in political science and sociology from Pennsylvania State University. Her doctoral dissertation examined university-based poverty research centers and their efforts to inform policy and practice in the U.S.
