Alumna Nancy Chinn Honored for Research and Leadership on Concussion Management

The concussion management program at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, Calif. was named as the 2014 Grand Silver winner of the NASPA Excellence Awards. The effort is led by Dr. Nancy Chinn (EdD 2010), chair of the Disability Resource Management Department.
Dr. Chinn also co-authored “Concussion Management in Community College Athletics: Revealing and Understanding the Gap Between Research and Practice” with Paul Porter (Sonoma State University). The article discusses the relevance of concussion management in athletics to community college administrators, faculty and support service providers, and includes Dr. Chinn’s research findings on the management of concussion in California Community College football.
Each year, NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, recognizes the outstanding contributions of members who are transforming higher education through exceptional programs, innovative services, and effective administration. Recipients will be honored in March at the 2014 NASPA Annual Conference in Baltimore, Md.
