Chancellor Francisco C. Rodriguez

Learn more about our Chancellor in Residence

Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez joined Wheelhouse in 2020 as its first Chancellor in Residence. While he leads LACCD, Dr. Rodriguez shares his time, talents and expertise as a presenter in and facilitator for our Institute on Leadership. He also helps shape our research projects and ensure they are closely tied to real-time policy and practice need in the colleges.

The LACCD is the largest community college district in the nation with nine colleges enrolling 250,000 students and an annual budget of $5.8 billion. A noted scholar and education activist, Dr. Rodriguez’s career spans 30 years as an educator, faculty member and administrator within California public higher education. Previously, Dr. Rodriguez served as president of Cosumnes River College and superintendent/president of the Mira Costa Community College District.

The Chancellor’s engagement with Wheelhouse is a homecoming of sorts, having earned his BA in Chicano Studies and his masters in community development from UC Davis. He earned his PhD in education from Oregon State University.
