Steve Martinez, Ed. D., is the Superintendent of Twin Rivers Unified School District, and has embarked on a ground-breaking effort to better connect students to a bright future. Under Dr. Martinez’s leadership, Twin Rivers has launched an initiative that puts new emphasis on looking creatively for a pathway leading all students to college and career readiness. As a result, the district now offers an impressive list of classroom enhancements with a rigorous focus on teaching and learning.

Before Twin Rivers, Dr. Martinez was the Assistant Superintendent of School Leadership at Fresno Unified School District. He has been a principal, assistant principal, learning director, coach, and math and science teacher during his 17 years in education. As a principal at Clovis East High School, Dr. Martinez was credited with turning an underperforming school into a California State Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School. Under his leadership, Clovis East also received the U.S. News Bronze Award and was awarded the Golden Bell for outstanding Career Technical Education program. 

Dr. Martinez is a member of the ASCD and the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA). His specialized training includes: ACSA Superintendents Academy, College Board/Advanced Placement, Academic Vocabulary and Common Core Instructional Strategies, CALSA Mentoring Program, Mastery Learning and Walk-Throughs, Five Minute Walk-Throughs, The Skillful Leaders (Supervision and Evaluation), and Systems Thinking in Schools.
