Spring 2014 Catalyst News, Research and Program Updates from the UC Davis School of Education
This issue of the UC Davis School of Education’s biannual Catalyst magazine highlights the breadth and depth of our research and service, as well as the excellence of our programs and people. Featured research includes a look at the connection between video gaming and health, and the need for formative assessment in mathematics instruction. We also cover several events that bring children’s literature, common core instruction, and Shakespeare to the forefront for educators and others in our region.
The cover story is about the student poets from across our region who participate in our Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) program. You will find articles about many of our staff and faculty who have been recognized for excellence by their peers and a piece on our annual Honoring Educators Awards event at which we recognize exceptional alumni, faculty, students, and advocates.
