We are a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of researchers,
educators, postdoctoral scholars, doctoral students, and
undergraduate students from the University of California, Davis.
Our overarching goal is to improve the educational experiences of
learners with autism by understanding the dynamic and
transactional relationship between students and their classroom
environment. We started as a small research group in 2016, coding
videos of elementary students with autism and their teachers
within general and special education classrooms. Since then we
have had over 25 team members join us who represent
linguistically, culturally, and neurodivergent backgrounds. We
are currently involved in multiple research projects, many of
which use classroom video observations to identify classroom- and
teacher-level supports that are related to student active
engagement and learning.
