Three in-person convenings
Our 8-day CEO Institute includes a 2-day foundational convening
in March with innovative speakers, compelling case studies,
personal and organizational analytics, and network formation to
advance personal and institutional impact. The March session is
followed by a 4-day intensive in July and a 2-day
culminating session in September.
Structure and curriculum
Cohorts of 15-20 CEO fellows are shaped by invitation
for breadth of experience, geographic and institutional
representation, and diversity of backgrounds and roles. Cohorts
include chancellors, superintendent/presidents and presidents. We
tap the real-time experiences of our fellows to develop teaching
cases for lively and interactive seminars. The table is set for
robust examination of leadership theory and framing, strategic
communications, leading for equity and institutional change.
Each Institute’s theme is tailored to community college CEOs’
needs and interests as identified in the latest
Wheelhouse research and reflective of current contextual
issues and challenges.
Comprehensive self-assessment guides fellows in examining
strengths and challenges. Follow-up coaching focuses on action
plans for building capacity at individual, team and
organizational levels.
Year-long benefits: Fellows may have unique
opportunities to participate in research and
writing, discuss local institutional data with university
research staff and develop leadership perspectives, case studies,
and policy viewpoints. Each fellow receives a Wheelhouse
leadership certificate issued by the UC Davis School of
Education.
