Who Should Apply
The ALI is geared toward community college vice-chancellors,
vice presidents, and other cabinet-level administrators with
at least two years of experience in a high-level administrative
role. Candidates should bring a growth orientation, be
equity-oriented, student-centered, and interested in disrupting
structural barriers (processes, practices, and mindsets). While
the ALI is aimed at future leaders of the California Community
Colleges and will thus draw its cohorts from those now working in
higher education in California, we will consider strong
candidates from out of state or out of system who are looking to
transition to a CEO role in California.
Selection Process
A cohort of 25 aspiring leaders will be selected based
on their breadth of experience, geographic and institutional
representation, diversity of backgrounds and roles, and
application materials.
Application Window for 2024
The two-month application window for the 2024 ALI is now
closed.
The application consists of demographic questions, opened-ended
responses, an uploaded resume/CV, and a letter of
recommendation.
