What are the approved courses for the education
minor?
You can find a list of approved courses on the Courses for the Minor in
Education web page.
When and how do I formally declare a minor?
Submit a minor declaration form in OASIS the quarter before you
plan to graduate. The minor petition form can be found in OASIS
under the Forms & Petitions tab. All 20 units of approved
coursework must be listed on the petition.
Is advising available for the education minor?
Yes! You can email questions to eduadvising@ucdavis.edu.
Is fieldwork required for the education minor?
Yes. EDU 100 is the first core class for the minor and requires
30 hours of an off-campus fieldwork experience. Once registered
in the class, you may
review the available options.
EDU 181 and EDU 183 may replace EDU 100, and also require
off-campus internships. NOTE: EDU 181 and EDU 183 are not
electives.
Learn more about required
fieldwork.
May I take a course Pass/No Pass?
Yes, with two requirements:
- You must pass the course toward the Minor.
- There is a limit on how many Pass/No Pass units can count
towards a Bachelor’s. Check with your college advisor if you are
unsure.
What is the EDU 192 or EDU 198 Process?
To participate in an EDU 192 internship or EDU 198 directed group
study:
- Secure a faculty sponsor
- File a Variable Unit Course Contract form
- A CRN will be issued to you once the form is reviewed and
approved
Learn more at the EDU 192/198 Process web
page.
Where can I find education class schedules?
School of Education courses are listed on the Quarterly Course Schedules web
page. Class schedules are subject to change.
What are waitlists and PTAs?
Students may join the waitlist for a closed class and are either
added if another student drops or (if space is available) can be
issued a Permission to Add number (PTA) from the faculty.
PTAs are faculty approved and are not issued until the second
week of a term. Student Services does not issue any PTAs.
You must be on the waitlist and reach out to the faculty member
teaching the course to request consideration for a PTA.
What is the Incomplete grade policy?
An Incomplete (“I”) grade may only be assigned by the course
instructor. “I” grades must be completed by the end of the third
quarter in residence after they were issued. If the course
instructor is no longer at UC Davis, contact the School of
Education for assistance at eduadvising@ucdavis.edu.
Visit the Office of the
University Registrar website for full information on
Incomplete (“I”) grades.
