The College Opportunity Programs are made up of several programs,
each specializing in helping students reach their higher
education aspirations.
Educational Talent Search
The UC Davis Educational
Talent Search (ETS) program is a federally funded TRIO
program that seeks to assist low-income, first generation
students in Sacramento, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solano, Tehama and
Yolo Counties. The goal of the program is to provide services
that assist students in completing secondary school and enrolling
in postsecondary institutions.
GEAR UP
GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early
Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a federal
program funded by the U.S. Department of
Education. GEAR UP provides federal funding for 213 state
and partnership grants serving over 748,000 low-income students
in 48 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Federated
States of Micronesia, Guam, Palau and Puerto Rico. The goal
of the program is to significantly increase the number of
low-income middle and high school students who are prepared to
enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
Upward Bound
Upward
Bound is a Federal TRIO program designed to generate the
skills and motivation necessary for success in postsecondary
education. Our focus is on high school students who are potential
first generation college students. The University of California,
Davis Upward Bound Project has been in operation since
1968. We offer Upward Bound programs in Sacramento, Shasta, Siskiyou and Solano Counties.
